A Day of Cold Commitment: Safetyline Jalousie’s Fight MND Fundraiser

I have always believed that the strength of a company lies not only in its products but in its people and the values we uphold. This month, I had the immense pleasure of witnessing this strength firsthand during Safetyline Jalousie's annual fundraiser for FightMND, an event that holds a deeply personal significance for me and my family.

Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a cruel and debilitating condition that progressively robs individuals of their ability to move, speak, swallow, and ultimately breathe. I know this all too well, having watched my nanna succumb to this relentless disease when I was young. It was a heartbreaking experience to see her life cut short, and it left a lasting impression on me. It’s why MND Australia and FightMND have become the chosen charities for Safetyline Jalousie, and why my brother Nathan and I are so committed to the fight against this devastating disease.

Our mission is simple yet vital: to find an effective treatment or cure for MND, to improve the quality and accessibility of care for those impacted, and to boost awareness so that more people understand the urgency of this cause.

In line with FightMND’s 10-year anniversary, we hosted our very own DIY Big Freeze event, and I must say, this year’s fundraiser has been one of our best yet. The event was filled with camaraderie, laughter, and most importantly, a shared commitment to making a difference. We set up an icy dunk tank, donned our Big Freeze beanies, and even threw in some silly props to keep the mood light. But behind the fun was a serious purpose, and I was genuinely overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from our team.

What struck me most was the sheer number of my staff who volunteered to take the icy plunge. It’s not easy to step into a tank of freezing water, but they did it without hesitation, driven by the desire to contribute to a cause that means so much to all of us. It was also incredibly heartening to see donations pour in, not just from within our business, but from our broader community as well. The generosity and compassion shown by everyone involved have reaffirmed my belief in the power of collective action.

I’m incredibly proud of our Safetyline Jalousie team for their commitment to this cause that is so close to my heart. Together, we’re not just raising funds; we’re raising hope for a future where MND is no longer a life-limiting diagnosis. Each dollar raised brings us one step closer to that reality, and each act of kindness and support helps amplify our message.

To my fellow business owners, I encourage you to find a cause that resonates with you and your team. When we come together to support a common goal, the impact we can make is truly extraordinary. Whether it’s through events like our Big Freeze or other initiatives, there’s no limit to what we can achieve when we unite our efforts.

As we continue to grow and evolve as a company, our commitment to fighting MND remains steadfast. We will keep pushing forward, not just in our business endeavors, but in our efforts to make a positive difference in the lives of others. Because at the end of the day, that’s what truly defines us—our ability to care, to give back, and to stand together in the face of challenges.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us in this journey. Together, we’re freezing out MND, one icy dunk at a time.

Our fundraising page is still open, and we continue to welcome donations. Every contribution, big or small, makes a significant impact in the fight against MND. Let’s keep the momentum going and push closer to a world without MND. Please consider donating today and joining us in this crucial battle.
